'Afraid'

Baba’s Aria from The Medium, a short (one-hour-long) two-act dark dramatic opera with words and music by Gian Carlo Menotti. Commissioned by Columbia University, its first performance was at Columbia in 1946. The opera’s first professional production was presented on a double bill with Menotti’s The Telephone at the Heckscher Theater in New York City in 1947 by the Ballet Society.

'Stride la Vampa'

From Il Trovatore. Azucena, the daughter of the Gypsy burned to death by the Count, is still haunted by her duty to avenge her mother, “Stride la Vampa” (the flames are roaring)!

'Erda's Warning'

Erda’s warning to Wotan in Wagner’s Das Rheingold.  Erda rises from the earth to give a warning to Wotan and the rest of the gods. She cautions that if Wotan continues to have anything to do with the magic all-powerful Ring of the Nibelungs, the gods will be eventually thrown from power.

 

'O thou that tellest'

 An English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel, with a scriptural text compiled by Charles Jennens from the King James Bible, and from the version of the Psalms included with the Book of Common Prayer.
